East Africa Tourism Platform (EATP) is a regional private sector body for tourism in East Africa, set up with the support of TradeMark East Africa in 2011 after extensive consultations with tourism stakeholders, to facilitate active and focused engagement of the Private Sector in the East African Community (EAC) Regional Integration process
EATP won the trust of Tourism Ministries of Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda; to oversee joint marketing of these countries. EATP was entrusted with the development of East Africa Tourism Portal. . East Africa Tourism Portal is a tourism information repository, targeting 2,000 regional tour operators and over 10,000 users, with an aim of promoting multi-country packages. It opens a window to regional stakeholders to directly market to domestic, regional and international visitors.
Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda, in partnership with EATP, have developed and launched the East African Tourism Portal in February 2017 in Kampala, Uganda, which aimed to promote the region as a single tourist destination. At the same time, EATP will start an East Africa Travel Specialist Programme to train and certifying travel consultants on East Africa’s travel geography.
